May 2 Potluck
Spring is here, and it’s time to get together and celebrate the season. Join us this Sunday for a potluck dinner with UNH Slow Food, who will be hosting the gathering in Barton Hall at the Thompson School, UNH–Durham. UNH Slow Food will fill us in on what they have been up to this past year. We’ll also be joined by members of the Great Bay Agricultural Resource Network, a group of producers who are making connections within their community to share equipment and resources. It’s a great opportunity to meet a few of your local farmers!
And before dinner, John Forti will present an optional fun and informative demo/workshop on Herbs for Food and Medicine.
As always, please bring a potluck dish to share and your own dining kit and beverage, but please note: No alcohol is allowed in UNH buildings. Please read About Our Potlucks if this will be your first Slow Food potluck.
Program Schedule
4 pm: Herbs for Food and Medicine with John Forti. Come early for this FREE optional demo/workshop! Explore the past, present, and future roles of herbs as food and medicine. Learn the “arte of salletting” and how to make herb butters and salad dressings—and even plant your own herb garden! We will contribute our resulting treats to the potluck that follows.
5:30 pm: Potluck. Our theme is Spring Herbs, so anything fresh and green is wonderful this time of year! If you need an idea, head over to opening day of the Portsmouth Farmers’ Market on May 1.
