Barn Dinner 2009
2010 RAFT Heirloom Harvest Barn Dinner, Sept. 19
Chefs Collaborative, Seacoast Eat Local, and Slow Food Seacoast invite you to the 2010 Heirloom Harvest Barn Dinner, a multicourse meal featuring “at-risk” heirloom vegetables grown by local farmers and prepared by the finest local chefs—all in a historic dairy barn in Stratham, New Hampshire. This fine dining experience celebrating local sustainable food and farming will be held at Meadow’s Mirth/Berry Hill Farm on September 19.
Led by Chef Evan Mallett of Black Trumpet Bistro, the participating Seacoast chefs will each prepare one course highlighting heirloom vegetables grown by participating Seacoast farmers, who will be in attendance and honored at the event. Complete with locally produced beverages and live music emanating from the hayloft, the 2010 Heirloom Harvest Barn Dinner will be a night to remember.
The 2010 Heirloom Harvest Barn Dinner is a fundraising event for the RAFT Heirloom Grow-Out project, which celebrates and raises awareness about agricultural biodiversity and builds community through farmer–chef connections. RAFT is short for the Renewing America’s Food Traditions (RAFT) alliance, an effort managed by Slow Food USA to bring together food producers, chefs and consumers to “develop and promote conservation strategies, sustainable food production, and awareness of our country’s unique and ‘at risk’ foods and food traditions.” Tickets are $125 per person, and funds raised from the event will support continued work on the RAFT Heirloom Grow-Out project.
Tickets are available for advance purchase only and will not be sold at the event, so reserve your seat now!
